In Sweden, regulations for purchasing alcohol differ between retail establishments (shops) and restaurants/bars:

Buying Alcohol in Shops

In Sweden, the minimum legal age to purchase alcohol varies by beverage type:

  • For beer, you must be at least 18 years old.
  • For wine, you must be at least 18 years old.
  • For spirits, you must be at least 20 years old.

Drinking Alcohol in Restaurants

The minimum legal age to get served any alcoholic beverage in restaurants or bars in Sweden is {'beer': 18, 'wine': 18, 'spirits': 18} years.

Additional Notes

In bars and nightclubs the minimum age to be served alcohol is 18. To buy alcoholic beverages containing over 3.5% alcohol by volume, the minimum age is 20. For beverages under 3.5% alcohol by volume, the age is 18.
